The sailor from the Royal Nautical Club of Palma, Nikko Palou has been proclaimed champion of the ILCA 4 Spanish Cup.
STAY UP TO DATE OF WHAT WE DO AND RECEIVE OUR NEWSLETTERPalou, who was the runner-up in the Optimist class European Championship in 2023, has defeated the 130 sailors from all over Spain who participated in the competition, which took place from January 30 to February 2 in the waters off Tenerife.
The first major national event of the 2025 season for the ILCA class, organized by the Royal Nautical Club of Tenerife (RCNT) and under the delegation of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation (RFEV), concluded this Sunday, February 2, after three intense days at Las Teresitas beach in Santa Cruz, completing a total of eight races in the Gold Group and seven races in the Silver Group.
The Balearic sailors dominated the competition, with Lucia Salas from the Club Nàutic Cala Gamba finishing as the female runner-up. In addition, sailors from the Royal Nautical Club of Palma, Mónica Osha and Vincent Lewis, respectively took second place in the under-16 female and male categories.
"The wind conditions during the championship were challenging with many wind shifts and pressure changes, but our sailors sailed incredibly well, achieving very good results in the final standings," explained Toni Salva, coach of the Royal Nautical Club of Palma.
