The sailor of the CN Sa Ràpita Marga Perelló makes the level harder at the European Sub21 of ILCA

Yesterday there was a battle in the waters of Pollença the first journey of the continental race in which 200 sailors competed of this olympic category, organized by the Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença.

The sailor Marga Perelló (Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita) has started with a good foot in the European Championships Sub21 of the class ILCA, which was launched yesterday by the organization of the Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença. The Mallorcan sailor has placed herself in fourth position overall after two races in which she has sailed with the best.

The journey of the competition started on time about 11.00h in the morning. The wind blew northeast with an intensity that started with 6 nots, but it raised up to 11 nots. The numerous fleet of ILCA 7, with 137 sailors in the water, sailed divided in two groups, meanwhile the ILCA 6, with 65 young registrations, who could compete in a joint form.

In ILCA 6, some of the favorites were taking positions. The current U21 world champion, the Irish Eve McMahon, has taken the lead after winning the first race, but is tied at 7 points with the Italian Emma Mattivi, who defends in Mallorca the title of U21 European champion she won last year.  

Marga Perelló is in fourth place with 10 points, three points behind the leaders. The Mallorcan, ILCA 6 Under 17 World champion, has scored an eighth in the first leg and a second in the following partial. 

As for the men's ILCA 7 category, the best national sailor has been the Ibizan Jago Huércanos (Es Nàutic), who finished in twentieth position in the provisional general classification. Somewhat behind him, in 23rd place, is the local representative Javier Seguí (Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença) who, after scoring a 27th in the opening leg, has recovered and has achieved second place in the next race. The first leader of ILCA 7 is the Israeli Rem Pulci. 

Today two more races are scheduled for both classes to be held, wind permitting, starting at 11.00 am. The forecast for the day is for an easterly breeze.
