The sailor from the Club Nàutic S'Arenal, Lucas Montoya, has been the best among 88 sailors in the Optimist Federation Cup organised this weekend by the Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa de Can Pastilla (CMSAP).
STAY UP TO DATE OF WHAT WE DO AND RECEIVE OUR NEWSLETTERSailors from twelve clubs from Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza have traveled to Can Pastilla to compete in the Copa Federacions, the first of the three races, along with the Illes Balears Trophy and the School Finals, which serve to select the members of the Balearic Optimist team that will participate in the Spanish Championship of the class.
The race committee's skill allowed the completion of the programme of three races per day on the first two days despite very difficult conditions, with light winds on the first day and very gusty on the second. However, the third day could not complete any additional races due to the lack of wind and validated the classifications of yesterday, Saturday.
The men's podium was completed by Sean Sadler (CN S'Arenal) and Ignacio Martín (RCN Palma). The champion in the women's category was Amalia Coll (CN S'Arenal), who was also third in the absolute classification. The second female was Beatriz Quintana (CN Cala Gamba) and the third, Maria Lluc Bestard (RCN Palma). Bestard, with a great seventh place overall in the competition, was also the winner in the U13 category. The best U13 male was Stijn Oosterhaven, tenth in the absolute classification. Among the youngest optimists, the U11, the winners were two sailors from the RCNP: Jan Palou and Mary Anne Osha.
