A dozen boats from different parts of Mallorca gathered this Saturday at the Club Nàutic Portitxol (CNP) to participate in the sixth edition of the Trofeo Restaurante Hoyo 10. This is a cruising regatta in the ORC category consisting of a coastal course around the Bay of Palma.

Dozens of sailors took part in the meeting, which started at midday, and enjoyed a splendid day of racing until they returned to port at around five o'clock in the afternoon.

The start was at 12.20 p.m. and the regatta took place in light south-westerly winds, with a coastal course of 9.8 miles. After the regatta, the trophies were handed out in the club's social hall. The prizes for the winners consisted of wines from the wineries Viña Albali, Federico Paterna and Félix Solís.

The participants also enjoyed a relaxed and pleasant dinner courtesy of the Hoyo 10 Restaurant, sponsor of the event. During the meal, in an atmosphere of great camaraderie, they were able to discuss the regatta and share experiences and anecdotes about the sea and sailing.

"The atmosphere has been magnificent, as almost all the sailors are friends or acquaintances, along with some new participants," explains Pep Santander, president of the club. "During the dinner, people commented on the crossing, stressing the lack of wind and agreeing that if the regatta had been a little longer, it would not have been possible to finish, as the wind dropped off completely. Salvador and his brother Jose, owners of the Hoyo 10 Restaurant, were also highly praised for the quantity and variety of canapés that they offered to the attendees to accompany the trophy presentation. Unfortunately, due to ongoing works at the club we were unable to set up a table and tablecloth for everyone to enjoy the typical Murcian “cocido” every year, but we did have an excellent picadita before the trophy presentation, to get some fraternization between the participants," he says.
