They are two of the biggest  promises to our sport. The sailors of the Club Nàutic S’Arenal Ian Walker and Finn Dicke will be distinguished the following 2nd of September with the National Prize of Vela Terras Gauda with the youngest crew, an award that comes after a brilliant season in which they won gold at the 420 European Junior Championship and bronze at the World Championship.

With only 18 years old and after a 2021 that they achieved to be the youngest sub champions of the world of the category, Walker and Dicke face the continental date celebrated at the sea of Vilamoura (Portugal) a year ago, ready to give one hundred percent to fight for the title of European champions.

Four victories and three midterm podiums were the results that lifted the balearic tema to the highest place on the podium, and they did so with an advantage with forty points over the second classified.

The World Champion of Hungary was disputed only a few weeks later, and the tandem of Walker/Dicke got to be on the podium, this time in third place after a great comeback on the last day of the regatta.

“Starting the last day of the World Championship we were in tenth position”, begins to remember Dicke. “We went to sea with the mindset to give it our all and to enjoy, and in the end we had a good day and our opponents not so much. I remember it very well because of how unexpected it was and it shows that you should never give in”.

Walker, son of the olympic bimedalist and winner of the Volvo Ocean Race, Ian adds that “it is a great honor to be distinguished with this prize, because it is a perfect ending for the season of full of good emotions and not so good ones too that made us grow as well as people and make a great team”.

The majorcan crew will collect the National Prize of Vela Terras Gauda to the best young team at the gala which will be held at Monte Real Club de Yates the following 2nd of September, coinciding with the second journey of races of the 38th Trofeo Príncipe de Asturias.
