The sailors of the CN Arenal, Martina Gomila and Neus Fernández, sub17 420 world champions

Yesterday the 420 World Championship ended in Rio de Janeiro, in which the sailors of the Club Nàutic S'Arenal, Martina Gomila and Neus Fernández have been crowned sub17 champions.

In addition to the Arenal duo, other Balearic crews have participated in this international competition, giving their best, and achieving great results for Spain, which has climbed four of the five podiums with gold and silver medals in sub17 female, silver in sub17 female absolute, sub17 male and sub17 mixed, and bronze in sub17 male.

Two races, to complete a series of twelve, served to settle the world titles, which were very competitive. In the women's sub17 category, the triumph of the Arenal sailors, Neus Fernández and Martina Gomila was unquestionable, accompanied on the podium by the Catalans Jana and Martina Rahola, who were second.

In the absolute female category, the Balearic sailors Marisa Vicens (CN S'Arenal) and Marina Borras (Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença) finished fifth, just ahead of another Arenal duo formed by Nicola Sadler and Sofia Cavaco.

In the men's category the most outstanding sailors were also from Club Nàutic S'Arenal, Hugo Rodríguez and Nicolas Christian Montoya, who won the silver medal in the sub17 category. Their club mates Bernat Cavaco and Hugo Valor finished fifth in the sub17 men's classification.

En categoría masculina los más destacados fueron los también regatistas del Club Nàutic S’Arenal, Hugo Rodríguez y Nicolas Christian Montoya, que se han colgado la plata en sub17. Sus compañeros de club Bernat Cavaco y Hugo Valor han finalizado quintos de la clasificación masculina sub17.
