The Museu Marítimo of Mallorca is taking part in the third edition of Open House Palma, the annual architecture and open doors festival that runs until the 12th of November. During these days, the festival offers the opportunity to explore more than 60 outstanding buildings and architectural spaces in the city, which are usually closed to the public. The event also includes conferences and other activities related to architecture and urban planning.

As part of this series of conferences, this year the Museu Marítim de Mallorca will be hosting #ZOOMBLAU, a talk by the director of the Museu Marítim de Mallorca, Albert Forés, the head of the Planning Department of the Balearic Islands Port Authority, Antoni Ginard, and the architects Juan Palencia and Marta Colón Carvajal, to explain the renovation and construction project for Palma's seafront.

A seafront that has been in constant transformation throughout history, adapting to the different functions it has been given. In the first place, it was used for fishing, defence and trade, and then it was put to new uses such as crafts, industry, tourism, leisure and nautical activities.  Today, all these uses coexist in a heterogeneous space that, with the reconstruction of the promenade, the construction of the new Port Authority headquarters and the new Maritime Museum project, is facing new changes.
