The study of meteorology and climate comes to Calvià with the workshop 'Meteolab'.

What is the greenhouse effect and how do air masses move are some of the questions that will be answered in the workshop on meteorology and climate 'Meteolab', which comes to Calvià on the 2nd of November, within the framework of the science dissemination project 'Ciudad Ciencia', promoted by the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), with 4 sessions aimed at primary school students of the CEIP Ses Quarterades school.

This workshop, developed and taught by researchers from the Institute of Geosciences (CSIC-UCM), invites participants to discover geosciences in a playful and participatory way. It consists of a series of workshops in which simple experiments will explain fundamental concepts about the physics of the atmosphere and climate. Among the proposals, participants will discover aspects related to climate change, wind, pressure and temperature, precipitation and clouds or the ocean.

Science City was launched in March of 2012 and has the collaboration of 57 municipalities with the aim of giving the inhabitants of Spanish towns and cities first-hand knowledge of current scientific and technological issues. Throughout the 2023-2024 academic year, Science City will continue to grow with the incorporation of new localities.
