The Summer School of Portitxol, a great place to learn and enjoy

The Summer School of the Club Nàutic Portitxol (CNP) is in full capacity for the start of August. Throughout July, the summer courses that the club offers are fully registered, gathering a hundred kids and teenagers between the ages of 6 and seventeen to train dinghy sailing and kayaking.

The courses, aimed at kids and teenagers between 6 and 17 years old, are organized by age and level, with two sections; beginners and perfection, with a wide angle of levels in each of them. They are carried out in collective boats in the case of beginner students in which instructors show the inside of the boat, and Optimist, Laser Pico and Vaurien for advanced pupils monitored through inflatable boats.

The courses are done on a weekly schedule, from 9 to 13h in the case of kayaking, with complementary services of day care from 8 to 9 and from 13 to 14h. In terms of the dinghy sail, from 10 to 14h, with an optional service of canteen from 14 to 15h.

A lot of the students learn their first rudiments at the Summer School, it serves them as a first contact with the disciplines and continue to educate them in the Winter School or the Regatta Team of the CNP.

“The best work done at our Sailing School is the passion and the happiness of the students that enjoy the nautical activities”, points out Rafa Ibancos, Sport director of CNP. “It is a great pleasure to the world, and in this case all of them decide to continue and make sailing or kayaking their sport, in their sports development”, he adds.

On his point view, “the nautical world provides the kids and youngsters the opportunity to connect with nature and with themselves, such as the spatial intelligence and the maturity of the process of taking decisions, mainly in a competition level, given the tactical-strategic aspect of the regattas," he concludes.

In this month of August, there are still available spots in both disciplines.
