YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR FULL PROGRAMS HERE!The Swiss team "Yeahnah" is the first leader of the VIII Mediterranean Cup, which experienced a brilliant debut yesterday, March 20, at Puerto Portals with a total of 19 Dragon class boats from seven countries at the starting line.
The participants were able to complete the planned program of two races thanks to the perseverance of the Regatta Committee, which had the patience to wait for the ideal conditions to compete.
Shortly after noon, the first race began, with a northeast wind blowing at about 11 knots of intensity. In this first 1.1-mile course, the Swiss "Yeahnah," led by Jan Eckert, achieved victory, followed by the Danish "Monick," by David Holm, and the Austrian "Basic Logic," by Werner Deuring.
After the first heat, the conditions changed with a drop in intensity and a 20-degree shift, leading the Committee to declare a double postponement on the water. The fleet had to wait until 4:15 PM, when the start of the second race was given with a southeast wind of about 10 knots of intensity.
The "Yeahnah" was once again the fastest in this second race, a windward/leeward course of one mile. The Danish "Monick" also repeated in second position, while third place was taken by the German "Ingrid," by Dirk Pramann.
At the end of this first day of the VIII Mediterranean Cup, the crew of the "Yeahnah," consisting of Jan Eckert, Torvar Mirsky, and Frederico Melo, leads the provisional classification with a two-point advantage over "Monick," which is second, and six points ahead of "Ingrid," which is in third place.
Today, March 21, the second day of this competition will take place, which marks the end of the Dragon class season in Puerto Portals. Two more races are scheduled to start at 11:00 AM. In terms of social events, a dinner will also be held tomorrow with all participants during which the trophies for the VIII Puerto Portals Dragon Winter Series will be presented, a competition held in the months of November, December, January, and February, where the Portuguese boat "Easy" was the winner.
