The team representing Ibiza in the Balearic canoeing final has been decided

On Saturday, March 29, the fourth and last canoeing event of 'L'Esport per a la Edat Escolar 2024-2025' was held at the beach of s’Arenal de Sant Antoni. A total of 46 paddlers participated, 26 from Club Nàutic Sant Antoni and 20 from Club Náutico Santa Eulalia.

This competition, organized by the Consell Insular d’Eivissa, the Insular Delegation of Canoeing of Ibiza, and Club Nàutic Sant Antoni, allowed for the final classifications of each category to be determined by summing up the three best results obtained by each athlete. In this way, the team of twelve finalists who will represent the island of Ibiza in the Balearic final (categories Infantil and Cadete), which will take place in Lake Esperanza (Alcúdia) on May 17, has been defined.

The Prebenjamines and Benjamines competed over a distance of 1,000 meters, while the Alevines, Infantiles, and Cadetes did so over 2,000 meters. The Infantiles and Cadetes were given this reduced distance, which is unusual for these tests, as preparation for the Spanish Championship that these categories will compete in this coming weekend in Castrelo de Miño (Orense), as they will compete in the qualifying series over this distance on the first day, Saturday. The races were highly contested, as in some of them the final classification of each category or the qualification for the Ibiza team that will compete in the Balearic final was still at stake.
