The weather conditions postpones the initiation of the great final of the 52 SUPER SERIES 2023

The absence of the wind and the later arrival of the strong storm at the Bay of Palma blocked the launching of the races of the Puerto Portals 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week. The first points of the great final of the season 2023 will be repeated on Wednesday.

The last event of the 52 SUPER SERIES 2023 started with a complicated weather situation at the bay of Palma. The fleet of 11 boats of eight nationalities completed the choreography of leaving the docks of the marina of Puerto Portals within the hour, but after waiting on the race course for the minimum conditions for racing, they returned to port with a clean sheet. The subsequent arrival of a heavy storm dashed hopes of opening the racing program.

The capacity of adaptation to the weather conditions demonstrated from the Regatta Committee of the  52 SUPER SERIES has allowed to plan this season 36 out of 40 races programmed at four events competed. The fleet completed the plan of ten races at Scarlino and Menorca, and eight as well at Sacrlino and Barcelona. At the Rolex TP52 World Championship of the Ciudad Condal, the organization and teams managed to concentrate those eight events in the final three days with an intense 3+3+2 menu. All an effort that resulted in a successful World Cup after a frustrating start of two blank days, and a reminder that, with four days to go, there is still room to complete the program.

At the moment, the provisional circuit remains unchanged: the Turkish “Provezza” leader with 18 points ahead of the German “Platoon”. The battle for the third place, and 25 points away from “Platoon”, the American “Quantum Racing powered by American Magic” overtakes the British “Gladiator” by one point.  

The Puerto Portals 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week will take place the following Saturday 23rd of September. That day we will know the winner of the 52 SUPER SERIES 2023.
