As part of the agreement signed on February 8th by Marta Pérez Dorao, president of Inspiring Girls, and Mercedes Pardo, president of Blue Education, a drawing contest was organized to give visibility to women in the maritime sector.

The "Women of the Seas" drawing contest invited all boys and girls from schools in La Coruña to bring various maritime professions, carried out by women, into the classroom.

To help, they were provided with a document listing biographies of real professional women as examples.

After the submission period for the drawings ended, the jury, consisting of Javier Garat, president of the Spanish Maritime Cluster; Irene Souto, commercial director of the Port of La Coruña; Fátima Domínguez, painter and art restorer; Charo Medina, director of the Santa Polonia Educational Center; Mercedes Pardo, president of Blue Education; and Marta Pérez Dorao, president of the Inspiring Girls Foundation, met to discuss and select the winning drawings.

After deliberation, they selected 10 students from the participating schools: Montespino School and Sacred Heart Slaves School. The winners were awarded a sailing course at the Nautical Club of Coruña from June 17th to 20th.

"This award will help these boys and girls to know and enjoy the sea. At Inspiring Girls, our goal is to highlight the wide variety of professions and jobs that exist, without gender being an obstacle to performing these activities. Thanks to this drawing contest, students have been able to explore the different professions within this sector and realize that women also perform all of them," stated Marta Pérez Dorao, president of the Inspiring Girls Foundation.

Mercedes Pardo, president of Blue Education, added: "Since signing the agreement with Inspiring Girls, we have worked on several joint projects to make women's roles in the maritime environment visible, especially bringing these roles closer to young boys and girls. This drawing contest is one of those projects that brings a smile to all of us who have participated in its development, and for me, also as a jury member. Talent and creativity to make the women of the sea visible."
