The debut of this new category, which is very popular in various parts of the world, has been made possible through an agreement between Club Nàutic Sant Antoni, the organizer of the national championship, and Fiona Wylde, the world champion of the X-15 Class who leads this category. The event will undoubtedly attract specialists from different parts of the world and is already included in the international circuit of this modality, along with other competitions held this year in countries like the United States, France, Italy, Germany, and Scotland.

The Director of the Sports Area of Club Nàutic Sant Antoni, Enrique Mas, emphasized the significance of the arrival of this class in Spain, stating, "It is emerging as an Olympic modality in replacement of the kite formula. Olympic modalities are one-designs, so all athletes compete on equal terms with the same equipment, and the X-15 Class is the only one that exists for wingfoil. For Club Nàutic Sant Antoni and the sport in Ibiza, it is a great honor that this class debuts in our country, with its first stop in Ibiza." Additionally, in the week leading up to the Spanish Championship, there will be a clinic for youth from all over the Balearic archipelago, conducted by Fiona Wylde herself.

Wingfoil is one of the board sailing sports with the greatest growth potential. It offers sensations similar to kite surfing, but it is much safer to practice. It involves handling a wing held by the athlete, which is not attached to the board. The board is a foil type and rises above the water thanks to a special fin. While in the wingfoil class athletes use personalized equipment, in the X-15 Class all competitors use the same board and wing, with the only variable being the front wing submerged under the board, which can be adjusted according to the wind by choosing from three approved sizes.
