The President of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, Javier Sanz, highlighted the good work: ‘We have had the human and technical resources, and we have been able to make the most of them. I am satisfied with the work carried out, regardless of the results’.

Windsurfing became part of the Olympic family in Los Angeles in 1984, changing its name over the years from Windglider to iQFOiL, passing through Lechner, Mistral or RS:X depending on the board model. In the women's RS.X, Marina Alabau won the gold medal at London 2012.

With the current iQFOiL, Olympic windsurfing becomes flying and becomes a practically new class in terms of sailing and the qualities of its athletes.

Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita sailor Nacho Baltasar, the youngest member of the Spanish team, will be competing in his first Olympic Games at the age of 19. His climb through the different levels of the category has been vertiginous and, after obtaining fifth place in the Test Event in Marseille last year, he achieved national qualification with eleventh place in the World Championship in The Hague, is runner-up in the U23 World Championship, and bronze medalist in the recent French Olympic Week, the last international regatta of the class before the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. The seventh place obtained in the Princess Sofia Trophy raised him to seventh position in the world ranking, a position that he will improve after the bronze medal obtained in the French Olympic Week.

After the 49er entered the Olympic Games as a mixed category and was exclusively for men in London 2012, it was in Rio 2016 when the women's version of the class was added under the name of 49er FX.

Támara Echegoyen was at the forefront of the development of the class in Spain and, following her gold medal at London 2012 in the Elliott 6M class alongside Sofía Toro and Ángela Pumariega, she went to the Rio Games with Berta Betanzos to claim an Olympic Diploma with fourth place in 49er FX. For Tokyo 2020, Támara teamed up with Club Nàutic S'Arenal sailor Paula Barceló, and won a second Olympic Diploma, also with a fourth place.

The tandem repeats for Paris 2024 and confirm their position as favourites with bronze medals at the 2022 World Championships and the 2023 European Championships.
