Toni Ginard, new director of the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands

The Board of Directors of the Balearic Islands Port Authority (APB) has appointed this afternoon, at the proposal of President Javier Sanz, Toni Ginard López as the new director of the public body that manages the ports of general interest of the Balearic archipelago.

Born in Palma in 1974, Toni Ginard is a civil engineer from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Until now he has been responsible for the Planning and Infrastructures Area of the APB, a position he has held since 2021. Since 2005 he has held different positions related to project planning and infrastructure development at APB, where he has been responsible for various organizational units.

During his extensive professional career at APB, Ginard has led more than 500 port infrastructure projects, as well as transformation and port-city integration projects. Until now, he has been leading the remodeling of Palma's Maritime Passage, which represents one of the largest transformations of the urban space of the Spanish ports, as well as of the Balearic capital.

Also noteworthy are his projects for the remodeling of the promenade of the port of Ibiza, the remodeling of the port-city space in the port of La Savina and the transformation of the seafront and the port of Molinar, with which he won the "City and Territory" award Albert Serratosa 2021, awarded by the Association of Civil Engineers of Spain, and the special personalized mention of ARCA (Association for the Revitalization of Old Centers) in 2018.

Ginard is also currently the vice dean of the Association of Civil Engineers of the Balearic Islands Demarcation, an institution to which he has been linked since 2014. In addition to his extensive experience in port engineering and planning, after more than 23 years of uninterrupted professional career, he has also participated as a speaker at 20 conferences, is the author of several articles in specialized engineering journals, as well as co-author of two books on port issues dedicated to the Mallorcan engineers Pere Garau and Eusebi Estada.

Toni Ginard replaces Jorge Nasarre, who has stepped down as director of the APB after almost three years in the position.
