The Eurocup Series 29er 2025, within the framework of the 10th Comunitat Valenciana Olympic Week, kicks off at the Real Club Náutico de Valencia. This international regatta, hosted by the Valencian club, takes place from Thursday, February 13, to Sunday, February 16. The event features 86 registered boats (172 sailors, as it is a double-handed class) from 18 countries, with 16 races scheduled over the four days.
The 29er fleet is highly competitive, as this youth class serves as a stepping stone to the Olympic 49er. Spain's hopes rest on two crews: Sara and Isa Momplet, sailing for RCN Valencia, and the duo of Francisco Truyols and Ignacio Martín from RCN Palma.
Internationally, France, Austria, Great Britain, Switzerland, and Poland have the strongest representation in Valencia. Notable competitors include French sailor Titouan Gresset, who finished fourth at the recent World Championship in Aarhus, Denmark, and British sailor James Crossley, who placed fifth in the same event and is now competing with female sailor Eliana Edwards. Also in the fleet is Finian Morris from Great Britain, who finished 11th at the World Championship, along with Alicja Dampc, who placed third in the women's division, and the Momplet sisters from Spain, who finished fifth.
As part of the Olympic Week, an international regatta held across four venues (Santa Pola, Alicante, Torrevieja, and Valencia), and organized by the Federación de Vela de la Comunitat Valenciana, RCNV will also host the ILCA 6 (55 entries) and ILCA 7 (22 entries) fleets, which begin their competition on Friday, February 14. Class A sailors will start on Saturday, February 15, with a strong turnout, and registration will close on Friday.
Among the ILCA 6 competitors, one standout is current Spanish champion Lara Sabina Himmes (RCR Alicante), along with top local contenders such as Blanca Ferrando, Quique Ferrando, Guillem Balaguer, Maria Stapiñska, and Lara Rondalli. Also in contention is Sheila Martínez (CN Campello), who currently leads the ILCA 6 ranking of the FVCV.
In the Class A division, the title is expected to stay in Valencia, given the strong local presence in the event. Toni Ballester and Abdón Ibáñez, both from RCNV, are top contenders for a podium finish on Sunday, February 16.
