This weekend, March 8 and 9, the waters of Biscay at Abra and Club Náutico Marina Greenwich will become the stage for two women's sailing events, marking the start of the competition season in Spain.

The Real Club Marítimo del Abra-Real Sporting Club hosts the VI EKP Women’s Cup, a competition that returns for the sixth consecutive year in a Round-Robin knockout format in the J80 class. This competition, part of the Iberdrola League, will bring together the best female crews from the country, promoting sailing and leadership among women. The Iberdrola League 2025 is the only female monotype sailing circuit in Spain, with several venues throughout the year, including events in Altea, Gran Canaria, Palma, and Calpe.

For the sixth consecutive year, the waters of Bilbao will have the national fleet competing in J80 monotypes in Round Robin format, with a total of twelve teams coming from different parts of the country, Team RCN Valencia, CN Altea, CN Vilanova, RCM de Santander, MRCY de Baiona, RCN de La Coruña and Vigo, RCN Port Pollença, RCN Gran Canaria, CN S’Arenal, RCN Tenerife, and the host, RCM Abra-RS Club.

The starts are scheduled for Saturday at 12:00 PM and Sunday at 11:00 AM.

Simultaneously, Club Náutico Marina Greenwich will host the second edition of the Greenwich Women’s Cup, which will take place in the Round-Robin format with TOM28 monotype boats. This year, the competition will extend over two days instead of one, promising to increase the excitement and participation.

The ten best crews set to participate in the Campomanes event have already been confirmed, including three international teams: Germany, Turkey, and England, in addition to fleets from Calpe (2), Cartagena, Torrevieja, Biscay, Madrid, and Punta Umbría.
