Participants must swim a distance of 30 km linking the town of Santa Eulalia (Ibiza) and Es Pujols (Formentera).
STAY UP TO DATE OF WHAT WE DO AND RECEIVE OUR NEWSLETTERThis Saturday the 1st of June, the Ultraswim returns, an open-water swimming event organised by the Club Náutico Santa Eulalia, which consists of a 30-kilometer swim between the two islands of Ibiza and Formentera.
A total of 26 swimmers are expected to participate, 22 men and four women, who will start the race from the beach of Santa Eulalia at 7:30 am. This is a competition that requires a great deal of organisation, as each participant will be accompanied by a support motor boat, which will be provided by the organisers, and their corresponding skipper.
In addition, all participants will be set a minimum swimming pace of 3km/h to be able to complete the race. In order to maintain this pace, checkpoints will be set along the course and swimmers who do not pass these checkpoints within the established times will be disqualified and will be obliged to board the boat. The checkpoints will be located at the following buoys:
1st control: Buoy at km 4.70 Cap des Librell.
2nd control: Buoy at km 15
3rd checkpoint: Buoy at km 22.35 between the islets S'espardell and S'espardello.
The finish line will be located on the beach Es Pujols (Formentera), where the awards ceremony will be held. In addition to the trophy, the top three finishers will receive a cash prize and all participants will receive a medal.
The amounts of the prizes are:
-1st male and female: 1000 euros.
-2nd male and female: 500 euros.
-3rd male and female: 300 euros.
The first preparations will take place this Friday 31st of May at 12h. which will consist of a technical meeting of the participants, at the headquarters of the Club Náutico Santa Eulalia (Puerto deportivo s/n, first tower).
In addition, on Sunday 2nd of June, the Mini Ultraswim will take place, a 5km swim starting and finishing from Santa Eulalia beach, which will begin at 10:30am. It is one of the most crowded crossings of the event, where participants will have to complete the course passing through different gates to maintain safety and that all participants complete the same route.
The technical meeting for this event will be held at the sailing school of the Club Náutico Santa Eulalia on Saturday 1st of June at 18:30h. The hats and chips will be handed out on the beach of Santa Eulalia from 9am on Sunday 2nd of June.
