The Ajuntament de Calvià has chosen to honor oceanographer, biologist, and ecologist Xavier Pastor by awarding him the Cor de Calvià. The award, created by the Calvian artist Carlos Terroba, has been given in recognition of Pastor's invaluable work in the protection and conservation of the oceans at an international level.

A resident of Cas Català for nearly three decades, Xavier Pastor has always been involved in improving the environmental state of the municipality and its surroundings, collaborating on projects for the conservation and protection of marine resources. Currently, he works with the Marilles Foundation, an organization that strives for the conservation of the Balearic marine environment, contributing his experience to projects and policies that ensure a sustainable future for our waters.
The Ajuntament de Calvià has chosen to publicly recognize his extensive career and commitment, joining the tribute that the Spanish Geographic Society recently paid him by awarding him the SGE 2024 National Prize. This award places him in the select group of great naturalists and communicators who have received this recognition, among them the remembered Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente.
In the words of Xavier Pastor, Calvià is "a place where there is a wonderful quality of life, and we want it to be preserved, that the initiatives taken in the municipality always aim to improve this quality of life, to enhance the environmental situation, and to avoid any deterioration that affects the environment."
